Puntarenas
Explore the largest province of Costa Rica
In Puntarenas you will find National parks, stunning beaches and adventures activities:
Puntarenas is Costa Rica's largest province. The province covers not only a huge portion of the Pacific Ocean (including the Nicoya Peninsula's southern region), but also a large portion of the interior.
The province's capital, Puntarenas serves as a vital junction. This city is an important transit hub for passengers heading to the Central Pacific coast, as it connects the Nicoya Peninsula to the mainland by boat. Monteverde is a well-known cloud forest reserve. The American Quakers who sought safety in Monteverde (which is also easily accessible from La Fortuna) have made the town famous. Wildlife enthusiasts and bird-lovers flock to watch the quetzales, and it is now a magnificent paradise for them.
Fans of canopy tours, on the other hand, will be well-served aswell. The touristic resort of Jacó is located in the district of Puntarenas to the south.
This beach resort draws a diverse range of visitors, including the requisite surfers and strollers. Quepos, a busy location further south, is another lively attraction. The town is well-known for its sport fishing and serves as a major gateway to the Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio, which is located 7 kilometers to the south. This idyllic national park, which is only 16 km2 in size, is home to abundant biodiversity as well as some of Costa Rica's most gorgeous beaches.
