Palenque Garabito Restaurant, whose name honors the memory of the legendary Chief Garabito who with indomitable courage, faced the Spanish conquerors, opened its doors on May 27th, 1976, and since has been owned by Don Mario Elizondo and his wife doña Marta Morera de Elizondo.
Palenque Garabito is a restaurant with family tradition that serves national and international dishes, with a friendly atmosphere, surrounded by vegetation and bordered by the Ciruelas river, located at the edge of the Pan-American Highway.
After serving more than 35 years of existence, Mario recalls the early stages of his business: “More than 30 years ago Dad had at this same place a grocery store, then leased the business and then decided to set up the restaurant. Since I was the youngest brother my place was to manage it and here was where I learned to cook “, who also claims to have invented more than 30 dishes from breakfast and dinner. At that time, Don Mario and his seven brothers worked in raising cattle, so the idea of establishing his own restaurant providing themselves with their own meat, wasn’t very difficult to take.
The restaurant’s success was immediate, as the combination of a very good service with the quality of their cuisine, has led to distinguished personalities from political, diplomatic and artistic, to honor it with their preference. Palenque Garabito grew to the point that they had to extend its facilities, including building a large room, Salon Los Troncos, with capacity for 600 people with his own ensembles for private parties, located alongside the restaurant, as well as a VIP lounge with air conditioning.
Palenque Garabito Restaurant has a menu for every taste. For example, the breakfasts here are varied, where you can not miss the acclaimed “Gallo Pinto”, while among the highlights main dishes include the boneless fish and Garabito rice, which is their own version of Spanish paella.
