Añoranzas Bar, Restaurant and Museum opened its doors on June 17th, 1992, thanks to the dream of Javier Leandro and his wife Ana Cecilia, to open a restaurant in “Villa Tranquila,” which was his family getaway farm. That dream was enough for the birth of what is now known as Complejo Turístico Añoranzas (Añoranzas Tourist Complex), whose name was suggested by the Costa Rican folkloric Miguel Salguero, in honor to the atmosphere and decor of the place.
Añoranzas Restaurant started slowly, always sure of achieving its purpose designed to offer the best service and quality possible in a healthy and totally familiar environment, where the key to success, was undoubtedly, its originality.
The idea of a place as different as the Añoranzas restaurant is, as Javier said, “Maybe it was born on a hunch, perhaps a childhood memory or maybe just a challenge that fate had prepared”, as for many years, he had been collecting antiques as a hobby, which he never imagined would serve to display at his restaurant.
Añoranzas has a space for those seeking to rest and decide to take a breath, letting fly their dreams and wondering between the scent of the forest in a rustic and cozy ambiance. The restaurant offers the most representative dishes from the Costa Rican cuisine rescuing the flavor of the food of our grandmothers, which identifies it as one of the best in this field.
Añoranzas restaurant has a very unique decor, full of old newspapers on the walls, calendars, old photos, and many but many memories, that make many people come, as its name implies, to yearn about old times. The restaurant also has an amazing play area that now offers on weekends a water slide, a mini canopy zip line and a trampoline. It also has a soccer field and ample parking lot.
