Penca Beach in Punta Cacique is a beautiful and paradise coral beach, with white sand and calm crystal clear turquoise waters of no more than 1 km long, located in the province of Guanacaste. Penca Beach in Punta Cacique is ideal for snorkeling, diving, or just for enjoying its calm waters.
As Penca beach in Punta Cacique is a not well known and therefore little visited beach, that makes it the ideal place for a relaxing dream vacation, away from noise and stress, enjoying the sun, the sea and its exotic landscape of dry tropical forest surroundings.
Getting to Penca Punta Cacique Beach in Guanacaste:
From San José
Drive north to Puntarenas and then follow the Pan-American highway until you reach Liberia. There, turn right and continue for 8 km (5 miles), pass the DO IT Center and take the next exit to Sardinal on your right. Once in Sardinal, continue on the road to Hermosa Beach for about 7 km (4 miles), you should see an entrance to your left, that looks as if was private, you must enter and report to the manager, and continue for 700 m (2,300 ft) to the beach. This route requires a total of 4 to 5 hours from San José.
From Daniel Oduber International Airport (LIR)
Drive south to Santa Cruz , pass the DO IT Center and take the next exit to Sardinal on your right. Once in Sardinal, continue on the road to Hermosa Beach for about 7 km (4 miles) you should see an entrance to your left, that looks as if was private, you must enter and report to the manager, and continue for 700 m (2,300 ft) to the beach.
By bus
Take a bus from the route San José – El Coco Beach, which takes about 5 hours (Pulmitan Liberia, 2222-1650 / 2666-3818). From here you can rent a car and drive or take a taxi to Penca Punta Cacique beach, which takes about 5 minutes. We recommend buying the ticket the day before to ensure your space.
By plane:
You can also take a flight from the Juan Santamaria Airport to the Daniel Oduber airport at Liberia, either with Sansa or Nature Air airlines every day. From here you can rent a car and drive or take a taxi to Penca Punta Cacique beach, which takes about 15 minutes.
